New York Tech Meetup October Wrap-Up
The mayor was in the house last night. It was his first visit to NY Tech and he got a (somewhat forced) standing ovation at the end of his speech. @elbloombito talked about the city's geeky new initiatives, his history in the NYC tech community and the death of Steve Jobs. There was no Q & A afterwards, so I didn't get to say "En Espanol, por favor." Anyway, it was a great setup for a fun, if somewhat rushed evening of demos.
Occupy Together
Meetup came to NYTM to announce a hackathon in support of Occupy Wall Street

New York Tech Meetup July Wrap-Up
Last night was another exciting and raucous one at the NY Tech Meetup. There was a loose theme about location or something, but that all got blown out of the water by an extremely accurate, browser-friendly 3D model of the human body.
Biodigital Human
You could hear the jaws dropping to the floor throughout this presentation by a group of medical-techies tied to NYU. Biodigital Human is a full, animated, working model of the human body in 3D. It supports bisection, includes multiple layers, and even helps illustrate different conditions and exercises. The really incredible thing, though, is that it

New York Tech Meetup June Wrap-Up
I dragged my new partner, @bethanydiggins to the New York Tech Meetup last night. It was her second day on the job, but she come along and loved it! (Good news, Bethany, this is going to work.) There were some great demos. Here are some highlights.
Sleep with the Fishes
This was the second month in a row where a student's weekend project killed it. This time it was a guy who's still in high school's first Rails project, sleepwiththefish.es. (Get the name right. It's sleep, not sleeps.) The game is all about rickrolling people

New York Tech Meetup May Wrap-Up
I went to the New York Tech Meetup last night. I know, already ancient history, but anyway here's a quick wrap-up of a couple of the projects still stuck in my head this morning.
Come At Me Bro
There were a couple of really quick turnaround projects this week. This first one, Come At Me Bro, smashes together Twitter and Hunch and shows you who you should fight nearby. Essentially it analyzes things that you dislike and finds nearby people who like those things. It got a ton of laughs, because it picked people who were actually there in

Twitter World Record Reclaimed
I'm very excited to announce that I've recaptured the world record for most consecutive tweets with all 26 letters of the alphabet. Well, the decision is still pending at the time of this writing, but it should be verified soon!
A Nice Little Recursive Algorithm for Go
As you may have noticed, I recently built my first multiplayer game, go. If you'd like to play, feel free to shoot me an email.
The game is still in an early alpha stage but I had a lot of fun writing the little recursive algorithm at its heart, which I'm going to share today.
I'm using the Django framework, so this is Python, which made writing the algorithm about as simple as could be. It also makes reading the code fairly straightforward. That's a plus, because of course I didn't comment it at all
